The Gutenberg Team released the latest version of the plugin a few hours ago. It includes tons of bug fixes, as well as one of the features I hope make it into WordPress Core: a “use featured image” toggle in the replace media flow.
I’ve been creating several page templates as I’m playing with WordPress FSE themes, and this now lives in a more natural place on the toolbar. I’d still love the option to set my own placeholder design on a site level, as sometimes overlapping sections makes it difficult to see the cover block.
Overall this is a small but useful update to the toolbar. If you’re spending time building sites for clients, you love to see the screen real estate used for this.
